Bring out the party hats my little one, we are 37 weeks today!! Do you know what that means?? We are officially FULL TERM!! If you decided you wanted to be born today the doctors wouldn’t try to stop you. And oh my goodness you’re giving your mommy a run for her money! I’ve been getting all sorts of fun contractions from you lately, scaring me into thinking your arrival might be sooner than I think! Please oh please my darling little souvenir, stay happy and warm inside my tummy for just a little while longer…please? I’m not ready to share you with the world yet (such a selfish mommy, huh??) AND your nursery isn’t quite complete…thought it’s getting there!!
This also marks, officially, the 9th month of pregnancy. Wow, it’s so unbelievable that we’ve been together for a whole 9 months now! I love it.
Here’s what you look like from the outside this week!
Symptoms: Fetal movement, fetal hiccups, sciatica, Braxton-hicks, Real contractions (woah! and owie!), fatigue, shortness of breath, vaginal discharge, sore breasts, protruding belly button, emotional/hormonal, frequent urination
Weight gain: 25lbs
Here’s what babycenter.com has to say about your development this week:
Your baby is now considered “full term,” even though your due date is three weeks away. If you go into labor now, his lungs will likely be mature enough to fully adjust to life outside the womb. (Some babies need a bit more time, though. So if you’re planning to have a repeat c-section, for example, your practitioner will schedule it for no earlier than 39 weeks unless there’s a medical reason to intervene earlier.)
Your baby weighs 6 1/3 pounds and measures a bit over 19 inches, head to heel (like a stalk of Swiss chard). Many babies have a full head of hair at birth, with locks from 1/2 inch to 1 1/2 inches long. But don’t be surprised if your baby’s hair isn’t the same color as yours. Dark-haired couples are sometimes thrown for a loop when their children come out as blonds or redheads, and fair-haired couples have been surprised by Elvis look-alikes. And then, of course, some babies sport only peach fuzz.
Still in awe over here that we reached full term status my princess…and as I type this you are dancing away in my belly. I will never ever get tired of that feeling. I’m enjoying every last second I have with you baby girl!! I love you more than life itself princess. Hang tight for a few more weeks, okay? 😀
