It is official!!! We are now in our second trimester!!! Congratulations to us, baby!!! We made it! I read somewhere that once you reach week 13, your chances of a successful and healthy pregnancy go up to 98%. 98%?!?!?! Ahhhh, we’re doing good, baby, aren’t we? 😀
We’ve now told all the family and everyone is SO excited for us and excited to meet you. You have some great-grandparents, lots of grandparents (who already love and obsess over you too), aunts and uncles, cousins (first and second!), and lots of honorary aunties who love you to pieces already and are counting the days down until your arrival with mommy! Can you believe how loved you are already?! Lucky, lucky monkey!
Here’s what you look like from the outside this week:
Symptoms: I’m getting my energy back! I’m so excited. Sore breasts, frequent urination, more of an appetite!! Things are definitely looking up!
With the start of this new trimester, also marks the beginning of getting back to some physical fitness. Don’t worry baby, I’m not talking about kick boxing. We’re going to start with some light walking for the next couple weeks and see if we can mix in some very light weights to keep mommy’s muscles in shape and ready for delivery! Kuma will keep us company on our walks…I think it’s going to be really good for us.
I’ve also decided to keep track of my weight on here…why not? It will be fun to look back on no matter how much I gain. And, since it looks like my appetite is coming back we’re already well on our way. Remember, the doctor advised me to be up 10lbs by week 20.
Weight gain: -1.0 lbs (almost back to starting weight, woohoo!)
Here’s what babycenter.com has to say about your development this week:
Fingerprints have formed on your baby’s tiny fingertips, her veins and organs are clearly visible through her still-thin skin, and her body is starting to catch up with her head — which makes up just a third of her body size now. If you’re having a girl, she now has more than 2 million eggs in her ovaries. Your baby is almost 3 inches long (the size of a medium shrimp) and weighs nearly an ounce.
It’s so surreal that we made it to the second trimester. This is supposed to be the best part of the pregnancy. I’m really looking forward to it my little one! Cheers to you, love, and happy 13 weeks!
