Omg the last week of the first trimester baby!! Can you believe it?? I’m officially 3 months pregnant. So bizarre. And I’m so excited! We go for your nuchal translucency ultrasound (an ultrasound to check for chromosomal abnormalities — more on this later) on Tuesday 4/26 and I’m so excited to see you. If everything looks good at this appointment, we’ll be free to start telling people about you! How scary. I still haven’t told some of your aunts and uncles, cousins and your great grandparents…so much family still to fill in! 🙂
Here’s what you look like from the outside this week:
So I basically still just look bloated or like I downed a whole 6-pack of beer or something, but that’s okay I guess. I’ll take “chubby tummy” for now haha.
If you look really closely you can see the beginnings of my linea negra already! I think mine is going to be dark! And holy boobs…I don’t know how much longer I’m going to be able to fit into that bikini top for comparison pictures…might have to upgrade to a bigger size soon!
Symptoms: Slight ickiness, sore breasts, emotional/irritable, uterine stretching pains, fatigue/exhaustion
Here’s what babycenter.com has to say about your development this week:
The most dramatic development this week: reflexes. Your baby’s fingers will soon begin to open and close, his toes will curl, his eye muscles will clench, and his mouth will make sucking movements. In fact, if you prod your abdomen, your baby will squirm in response, although you won’t be able to feel it. His intestines, which have grown so fast that they protrude into the umbilical cord, will start to move into his abdominal cavity about now, and his kidneys will begin excreting urine into his bladder.
Meanwhile, nerve cells are multiplying rapidly, and in your baby’s brain, synapses are forming furiously. His face looks unquestionably human: His eyes have moved from the sides to the front of his head, and his ears are right where they should be. From crown to rump, your baby-to-be is just over 2 inches long (about the size of a lime) and weighs half an ounce.
Happy 3 months baby monkey…one more week left in the first 1/3 of this pregnancy!
I love you and will see you in 5 days!!!
